From 12th August 1920 until 25th October of that year, Muriel MacSwiney, wife of Terence MacSwiney, Lord Mayor of Cork did what no woman should ever have to do. She watched as her husband died from a 74-day hunger strike in Brixton Prison, London.
In this play set in 1957 Muriel herself an active republican who had been born into a wealthy Cork brewing family looks back on her life and the events that happened after his death including the Irish Civil War.
